Our new 1:18 scale SABRE engine model was completed in December, once again by Gemini Prototyping Ltd. This new model will showcase the SABRE engine at many more events as it is more easily transportable.

A helium boiler inner spiral wound test coil has also been manufactured by Ashcroft Welding and Fabrication Ltd. The test coil is made from stainless steel and is certified for working up to 200 bars. This test coil will enable heat transfer measurements to take place ready for the construction of the boiler required to reject heat from the helium loop from the pre-cooler.

REL welcomed Richard Garriott, astronaut and CEO of Space Adventures Ltd, and Nick Spall, Space writer, to our Head Office this month. Both visitors toured our new permanent exhibition area and Richard Garriott told us what it is like to go to Space! Fantastic!

Lastly, our Christmas party was a great night; even Alan had his dancing shoes on!
