Farnborough International Airshow 2010

As mentioned in last month’s news, REL exhibited at the Farnborough Airshow between 19-25 July.

The REL stand welcomed an abundance of visitors on both the trade and public days and as hoped, reinforced the message that the UK is back in the Space race. The company enjoyed a successful week and thank you to those of you who visited the REL stand.

Alan Bond - Doctorate

On 12th July the Managing Director of REL, Alan Bond, was honoured by the University of Bristol with the degree of Doctor of Engineering.

The award ceremony was held within the Congregation awarding Undergraduate degrees to Aeronautical and Avionics graduates. Dr Mark Lowenberg, Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering and Head of the Aerospace Department, gave an oration which outlined Alan’s long history of innovation in space propulsion.

At the celebration garden party following the ceremony, Alan presented the Aerospace undergraduate prizes.

The AAU held its most recent event at REL on 28th July. REL was happy to provide the Association with the facilities for the day and to show them around our facilities.
