| On the 25th June the government announced the formation of the Space Innovation and Growth Team (IGT). This is a joint government and industry initiative which will define a 20-year vision and strategy for the future growth of the space industry in the UK. The purpose of the Space IGT is to involve the entire UK space community in setting out the challenges and opportunities that will govern its future value and competitiveness to hence, growth. It is aiming to publish early findings of the report around the end of 2009, with the full report published in 2010.
The Space IGT will draw on leadership experience from some of Britain’s top space companies. It will identify the future innovation, technology and investment priorities for the sector and other enablers of growth. The group will also seek to create a “space aware” culture in the UK with a space career path being defined for students wishing to enter the sector. In addition, it will consider how to ensure that government policy is better aligned to meet the future needs of the industry. | Company News
Production Manager, Dave King and his Deputy, Stuart Giles have been appointed this month to work at the prototype manufacturing facility. The construction of the tube processing machinery for these premises is progressing steadily. The first batch of pre-production tubes for the heat exchangers from High Tech Tubes has now been delivered. The tubes are currently undergoing trials. Susan Allred has also now joined Reaction Engines Ltd on a full-time basis as Office Administrator and PA to the Managing Director. |
