| Two new directors have joined Reaction Engines in November; Dr Robert Bond who will be responsible for planning and executing existing corporate programmes and Mark Hempsell who will be responsible for negotiating future programmes. Both directors bring with them a wealth of experience in propulsion, astronautics and project management. Photographs are soon to be uploaded onto the website.
During November contra-rotating turbine tests have been completed at Reaction Engines B9 test facility. Although the test programme was terminated early due to a mechanical fault, the results prove that the turbine performed according to predictions. Contra-rotating turbines can save weight and improve efficiency compared to conventional turbines when the working fluid has a high speed of sound. |
