| In mid-October the kick-off meeting for the LAPCAT II programme took place. LAPCAT II is a follow-on to the successful LAPCAT I programme aimed at technology development for long range hypersonic civil flight. Two vehicle concepts (the pre-cooled turbojet powered Mach 5 and scramjet powered Mach 8) are retained in the new programme. LAPCAT II will be completed over a 4 year period and involves 16 partners. The total budget is €10.4M with the EU contributing €7.4M. Reaction Engines is managing the Mach 5 A2 work package which will include intake, nozzle, combustion chamber and vehicle structure studies.
In October, Garry Voss commenced his role as Senior Engineer for Reaction Engines. He brings a vast background of experience in power engineering and manufacture from his previous work in the Nuclear Fusion Research environment.
