Procurement Lead

Reaction Engines is excited to be looking for an influential and motivated Procurement Lead to join our Supply Chain department. This position will suit someone who thrives on variety and is seeking an opportunity to make a real impact in their role.



 



The Role



The Procurement Lead is a key member of a multi discipline project team, providing the interface between the Supply Chain and Programme functions to define programme needs and deliver a strategy capable of delivering those needs. There is a focus on defining Supply Chain solutions, including supplier selection and joint development. Work with the project team and strategic suppliers to define the required specifications, and drive improvements through design changes. You will keep the focus on driving cost, quality and delivery improvements while protecting the programme requirements.



 



This role is responsible for developing and deploying a complex category strategy and championing it through all programme supply chains. This will require selecting and developing strategic suppliers and exiting others, while ensuring that company IP is protected through NDAs and secure contracts.



 



Accountabilities and Responsibilities




  • Create and implement supply chain commercial framework to meet the company requirements, including but not limited to:

    • Define Programme needs

    • Make & present sourcing strategies

    • Tendering documents

    • Validation of SOW packages

    • Ensure flow down of Customer and Agency requirements in our contractual obligations

    • Negotiation of costs, schedules and terms associated with contracted requirements

    • Respond to quality or delivery shortfalls

    • Support the Programme Manager in creating and tracking the programmes costs with regards to outsourced activity

    • Manage design changes with Suppliers to ensure any costs and obsolescence incurred are minimised whilst maintaining delivery in line with project requirements

    • Place and expedite orders in line with Project requirements, managing Supplier’s capacity constraints in line with the dynamic environment of design and development.

    • Optimise supplier engagement and development from concept to hardware delivery



  • Create and maintain a category Supply Chain Strategy 

    • Summarising the Supply Chain strategy by category

    • Make available to all relevant stakeholders the sourcing strategies

    • Risk Analysis – Identification and resolution of supply issues in order to meet business commitments against planned milestones

    • Rationalise and manage the category’s approved supplier list

    • Validate proposed improvements to Supply Chain and Manufacturing strategies






  • Represent the Supply Chain function within the business for a sub-team

    • Report to senior stakeholders on sub-team programme status

    • Support the Head of Supply Chain in defining and allocating new programme responsibilities within your sub-team

    • Mentor junior members as required

    • Act as a primary point of escalation for sub-team issues



  • Identify and support product and process improvements

  • Identify business risks, and provide input to the business Risk Register

  • Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Reaction Engines’ corporate objectives



 



Experience



Essential




  • Strong Supply Chain Management background

  • Excellent contractual expertise

  • Defining and developing supply chain strategies

  • Complex bid management and negotiation in a complex commercial environment

  • Defining and developing material or service specifications / statements of work

  • Demonstrable success in cost reduction initiatives

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy engineering, mechanical, construction or related industries

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience at a contract management level



 



Desirable




  • Currently in a Senior Supply Chain or Commercial Officer / Manager role

  • Experience in managing multiple complex programmes at the same time

  • Experience of working in the aerospace sector

This role attracts a competitive salary and excellent company benefits including 28 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days after 2 years’ service) plus public holidays, employee share scheme, employer matching company pension scheme, life assurance and a contribution towards onsite nursery childcare for children under 3 years of age.  We also offer dynamic working where employees split their time working from home and from our office in Culham.



 



Salary: £48,000 to £55,000



Contract: Permanent



Working Hours: 35 hours per week
