Reaction Engines is looking for a Programme Manager to join our exciting business.

The Role



 



To ensure the successful delivery of the Programme and portfolio of Sub-Projects including client interface, working with and supporting the Business Development and Engineering teams to meet Customer expectations and the Company’s business objectives.



 



The Programme Manager will report to the Programmes Director within the Reaction Engines’ Programmes function and will be based at Culham Science Centre, Abingdon, Oxfordshire.  Responsibilities may include delivery of projects and programmes within various business groups, for example within Advanced or Future Programmes.



 



Accountabilities and Responsibilities



 




  • Review, improve and set the Programme structure, vision, strategy and direction in line with business growth and performance metrics

  • To ensure the successful delivery of programmes to meet customer expectations and the Company’s business objectives

  • Develop effective working relationships with all customers and partners as well as within the business

  • Create and maintain a Programme Integrated Master Schedule and Risk Register

  • Negotiating and acquiring the necessary resources to achieve Programme deliverables

  • Help identify and grow a multi-disciplined group of people to achieve contracted and targeted Programme objectives on time and in full

  • Support coaching, mentoring and growing the integrated Programme team with potential line management responsibilities for a small group of Project Managers and assure that all team members understand their roles and accept their responsibilities

  • Provide a leading interface across technical, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and business development functions

  • Track and report on progress to plan; insure key Programme indicators are tracked, maintained and reported on a regular basis

  • Establish and publish/communicate clear priorities among Programme activities

  • Arbitrate and resolve conflict and interface problems within programmes

  • Establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating corrective action

  • Keep all stakeholders informed of progress and issues; support Programme status reviews to customer and RE Senior Management

  • Involve functional expertise in design reviews and key decisions as well as risk strategies

  • Manage change to preserve business plan commitments. Initiate Phase Reviews if objectives must change

  • Ensuring compliance to the Reaction Engines approved processes and Customer Contract/Statement of work

  • Establish develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Reaction Engines’ corporate objectives

  • Observe and comply with all company policies and procedures and for Health and Safety at Work

  • Observe and continually promote equal opportunities and customer care in compliance with organisational aims and objectives.

  • Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role.

  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and in order to meet the changing needs of the organisation



 



Experience



 




  • Previously managed innovative programmes aligned to aerospace and / or defence, with a demonstrable track record of successful Programme delivery with proven project management ability. The Programme Manager must have a background sufficient to appreciate the technologies and technical issues involved with the Programme, to be able to anticipate and identify critical obstacles, and to ensure accurate and timely technology decisions are made

  • A minimum of 5-10 years’ previous experience in project management

  • An appreciation of the engineering requirements of the Programme



 



Qualifications



Essential




  • A recognised project management qualification



 



Desirable




  • An engineering degree is desirable whilst an additional business, management or science degree would be an advantage.
