New Appointment – Paul Davey, Head of Business Development
We are delighted to announce that Paul Davey joined Reaction Engines as Head of Business Development today, 4 September 2017.
Paul has spent almost 30 years employed in the aerospace and defence sector, most recently as the UK Business Development lead for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company based at Harwell.
Paul graduated from Southampton University with a B.Eng. (Hons) in Aeronautics & Astronautics and subsequently gained Programme Management qualifications working for the Ministry of Defence Procurement Executive. Career moves afforded the opportunity to work in various locations around the globe including engineering instruction to RSAF in Saudi Arabia in the early 90’s, followed by General Management of a business in the aerospace supply chain driving growth in Germany and Spain.
Paul was business lead for QinetiQ’s record breaking solar powered Zephyr Unmanned Aerial Vehicle; and successful in developing programmes with both UK MoD and US DoD for this cutting edge technology. Paul was part of the team that broke the official FIA absolute world record for flight duration of a powered aircraft in 2010, attaining 14 days continual flight in Yuma, Arizona, a record held to this day.
Since 2010, Paul has worked for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, first as UK Business Development lead for the Trident II D5 missile programme, in service with UK Royal Navy, and more recently as business lead for the development of Lockheed Martin’s Space Technology Office at Harwell. With colleagues from the LM Civil Space Advanced Programmes team, Paul worked with the UK Space Agency and MoD as well as industry partners to guide and develop thinking on an indigenous small-satellite launcher programme. This work was instrumental in the UK Government’s decision to embark on a Satellite Launch Programme.
