We are pleased to announce that we are sponsoring a fully-funded four year PhD scholarship at Swansea University in Computational Fluid Dynamics. Reaction Engines has benefited from a close working relationship with Swansea University in recent years, and impressed with the calibre of graduates, engineers and professionals that it produces, we are very pleased to announce this latest collaboration.
Working alongside Dr Ben Evans (Zienkiewicz Centre for Computational Modelling, Swansea University), Dr Sean Walton (Department of Computer Science, Swansea University) and Dr Neil Taylor (Performance & Dynamics, Reaction Engines) the successful candidate will gain valuable experience in state of the art transonic CFD and computational methods with the aim of developing a novel mesh-based optimisation system that can be used in conjunction with methods developed by Dr Evans1 that can exploit evolutionary algorithms and ‘human in the loop’ optimisation techniques.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Reaction Engines team and will provide us with a greater understanding of the optimal geometric configuration of winged, reusable launch vehicles, transonic modelling capabilities and optimization techniques for future work.
